Are you forgetting your 'Friendly Twenties?'

Perhaps it's time you made a hair or dental appointment? If your hairdresser or dentist is part of our 'Friendly 20s' promotion they'll have 50 Beatons 20% off vouchers to give to lucky customers  when they've had their appointment!

Why do we do it? Well, one of our group's practical values is that we believe in '... life lived offline and live with as many senses as possible involved - so we involve ourselves with local community life' That includes supporting our local business community too.

Our 'Friendly 20' promotions first started in Tisbury way back in 2012. Our MD and Founder, Patrick, wanted to find ways to encourage local Tisburians to 'shop local' when it came to those regular professional services we all need: hair, teeth, garage, solicitors and so forth. It was a huge success for local businesses, customers and us as well!

We've definitely made going to the dentist a little more of a restorative experience with the promise of a treat at Beatons afterwards. We've now rolled out 'Friendly 20s' across the group. Full details are listed on our blog and on our facebook pages, or just ask our managers who our partners are.

Beatons Blandford have just notched up a first and novel addition to the idea. We've now got a 'Friendly Twenty' running at a school!

Thanks to the initiative of Zoe, our Marketing Manager, we welcome our first school to our Friendly 20s campaign at Beatons Blandford. Clayesmore School is delighted to be participating, and is giving out 'Friendly Twenty' vouchers to prospective parents visiting the school for a tour. We think this is a great way to encourage more shopping in what is fast becoming known as 'Busy Blandford'.

Praise for our Tearooms in Crowthorne

What a beautiful setting, wonderful food and drinks and excellent service. Definitely recommended!

Wonderful staff and great food. Best eatery in Crowthorne by miles!

Nice environment, light and clean. Good choice of teas and delicious cakes.

Most important is the quality of the staff. They are efficient, polite and friendly - best place to have a snack or just a drink in Crowthorne.

Pleasant, stylish, and peaceful, and the food and service are fantastic.

I've been to Beatons for lunch or tea numerous times since it opened and the experience has always been great.

They do a nice selection of light meals and cakes that are very tasty and more imaginative than what you will find elsewhere, and a wide range of teas and coffees, plus a proper Afternoon Tea!

Meeting a friend in a delightfully welcoming venue! Not easy to find on a Sunday on a bank holiday weekend.

White and pink decor, light and cheerful. Such a change from queuing for the usual assortment of cakes etc. All freshly baked or cooked. Served with a smile.

This is our second visit to Beatons. Would highly recommend, it's rare to find such great service these days, all the staff are genuinely friendly and nice!

Really enjoy the food here and the strawberry & kiwi tea is delicious!

We will most definitely be back!

Very good range of loose leaf teas and 'proper' hot chocolate.

A beautiful tea shop perfect for a little treat at the end of summers day cycle, yummy cake, ice cold shakes and delicious snacks.

We found Beatons this afernoon by chance. Excellent Food and Service. Nice surroundings too. Very clean.

Wonderful selection of teas. We will be back.

This is my second visit and the cafe is beautifully clean, and the China is lovely. The staff are very helpful, and the choices of tea and coffee is fairly extensive.

It was not just a cup of coffee, pot of tea and a cake between two (enough) it was a delightful and tasty experience.

Superb surroundings light with interesting, unusual decor plus papers to read and books on shelves to peruse.

Staff delightful, friendly and not short in conversation but not intrusive.

A very agreeable three quarters of an hour

A friend and I visited Beatons in Crowthorne for coffee and cake and really enjoyed the experience.

The tea shop is well presented and is clean and comfortable.
There is an excellent selection of light lunches and homemade cakes as well as a variety of drinks.

We received a very warm welcome and the member of staff taking our order was also very helpful with allergen information.

A very enjoyable experience and I certainly intend to return!

Lovely friendly staff and clean well appointed cafe. Great coffee and good value for money. Cakes looked lovely too!

Praise for Cheerful Chester Tearooms

Visited for tea and cake. Service was cheerful and efficient. Tea selection was impressive and very good.

The cheese scones are amongst the best I have ever had and are a favourite. We will be returning!

Had a delightful cup of the which was pretty much perfect as came with timer to ensure it comes out OK.

The service is excellent! Vintage style tearoom with a 1960s feel. Coffee is basic but lovely, and the cake is fantastic!!

Had very nice mushrooms and Stilton on toast which was jolly tasty.

Lovely, peaceful, beautifully designed venue with exquisite china and cutlery and exemplary service from staff.

Visited for a spot of lunch. I have the croque madam which was lovely.

The pot of tea was excellent and the service was good. Even then loos were great.

Beatons is really worth a visit. The place is very close to the Cathedral and the staff are very friendly. Great selection of teas and cake!

Brilliant friendly and happy service.

Super selection of teas lovely dining experience

Finally a decent cuppa in Chester. We will return

Great service! Really friendly & brilliant prices.

Tisbury Praise Matters: Spring 2016

Popped in for a coffee and finished up with a lovely sandwich that came with a lovely fresh side salad, coleslaw and oils, and the coffee was also excellent!

A little gem of a tearoom

The service was excellent, and the menu quite extensive for "just" a tea room.

The selection of teas is very impressive.

Food we ate was tasty and freshly prepared. A nice relaxing setting.

I have had cake here and enjoyed tea: revelled in a stuffed bagel: and rediscovered a childhood favourite, Welsh rarebit.... delicious, and all served with a smile.

Very nice independent Tea Room - highly recommended!

Visit regularly, always warm and welcoming.

Excellent local eatery on Tisbury High Street. The dishes are simple, but are freshly prepared with local ingredients.

Portion sizes were generous.

All clean and tidy, including toilet. Interesting decor. Will certainly go again if in the vicinity.

And from our friends on twitter!

Praise for Blandford's Beatons

'Beaten by Beatons!' - First visit and it won't be the last! Opted for the High Tea and what a treat ... fresh finger sandwiches, savouries, scones with jam and cream, cake and coffee. The cake had to be boxed up to takeaway! Great food and friendly helpful service!

Would recommend.

One of the best little coffee and cakes stops.

A pleasant atmosphere, calm and welcoming. Friendly, efficient staff.

Good selection of teas and cakes, the tea was brewed to perfection (21/2 cups from a pot) and the cake very satisfying.

We are visiting blandford and will be back on Friday, it was excellent plus good value. Will definitely recommend.

Loved the loo.

Please open one in St Albans. Many thanks, delicious cakes, tea and cheese scones.

Very friendly staff, thank you for a pleasant and tasteful experience.

Excellent!

Pleasant ambiance, plenty of room, fabulous toilet with individual real towels, free papers to read.

Lovely service, great too, lovely find

I find beatons to be a quiet and really pleasant place to sit with excellent food, drink and service.

Beautiful and peaceful, lovely place to chill

We had a very enjoyable visit and lovely atmosphere

Sort of place can spend a while relaxing in, lovely toilet too!

Beatons is really great and by far the best in Blandford. Polite affable and attentive service.
We only had cake at this visit but would come again for lunch one day. See you again soon, thank you.

Amazing as always!

First time visit and a real delight. Lovely lunch and loose leaf tea served in a most pleasing way. Good value too!
Fantastic find, especially on a wet day, many thanks!

Tea of the Month: Mr Smooth who likes nuts!

Our Mr Smooth of the tea menu! Zesty Lemon Rooibos is a herbal tea (which means it's caffeine free) with key elements being the finest Rooibos and lemon. Invigorating yet sweet, Zesty Lemon Rooibos has both silkiness of red bush and the citrus kick of lemons. Rooibos comes from the Aspalathus linearis plant growing in South Africa so it isn't actually a tea. It's probably called red bush tea on account of its striking colour when brewed - enjoy the rich red when it pours!

Rooibos (pronounced 'Roy-ee-boss') helps you chill - indeed it's reputed to help with insomnia.  Health wise, being low in tannins means it's one for asthma and eczema sufferers, and contains the rare antioxidant aspalathin which boosts insulin secretion which keeps Diabetes type II at bay!

Great hot or iced, its flavour marries particularly well with nuts.

Pop in and order a slice of  our gluten and dairy-free Orange & Apple Almond Cakes to accompany it!

Engager of the Month: Crowthorne's Vikki Roberts

Curious About a Tearooms Franchise?

If you're curious about why a Beatons Franchise is such an attractive proposition - or you know someone who has a secret dream to own a tearooms which oozes gracious hospitality show them this! It's a shortened and slightly updated version of an article which appeared in Making Money Magazine's November 2015 issue.  Franchising provides a much more secure option than setting up a new business from scratch and neither of our first two franchisees had run their own business before but wanted to take the leap into having their own family businesses.
'Beatons Tearooms and Bookshop group makes owning a tearooms that delivers generous value and 'gracious hospitality' an affordable reality.
With its name and styling inspired by society photographer Cecil Beaton and distinguishing itself through table service, loose-leaf teas, home-made cakes and light meals, the retirement and 'baby-boomer' market is proving hungry for Beatons' offering.

Paul Mitchell, Crowthorne Franchisee left
and Patrick Duffy, Beatons Founder and MD right
Beatons enjoys a 'best of breed' reputation in the South West where the brand is recognised as delivering a sophisticated and contemporary take on the quintessential traditional English tea room. With a values-based ethos to serve the growing swell of people wanting to offset the online-overwhelm with 'real world' engagement in convivial, culturally stimulating and calm surroundings, its model is proving highly successful and now having expanded into Cheshire and Berkshire.

Founded by Wiltshire entrepreneur, Patrick Duffy, the group capitalises on the continuing growth in the beverage sector and by filling the gap created by the loss of the independent book shop (its 'curated' book choice prompting extra add-on spend).  Mirroring its attentiveness to customers is its full service to franchisees, Paul Mitchell, franchisee said,
'From the outset Patrick allayed my fears - and is turning a daunting challenge into a great adventure.'

Investment level:            £50,000

What you get: Interior fit-out design and planning, operating systems, full training in all aspects, launch PR, initial and ongoing marketing and dedicated central operations expertise including full time on site manager for the critical first month of operation.

Do you know someone who you think might be looking for a change of direction? Please alert them to this article! Is it you? Now visit our franchise page or call our 'Beatons Central' (our HQ) on 01747 871819 and press option 2, franchising to speak to us about the first steps.
