Beatons Bod: Ben Moxham

Ben Moxham grinning at Beatons Tisbury
Ben Moxham, Blandford Manager in Waiting!
Ben Moxham has been with Beatons since January 2013 and we're proud that he is pursuing his career within our group. He started as a waiter and cook and is the first member of the team to have progressed to Manager - stepping into the breach when our Tisbury Manager moved on. Ben will have his hands full as he takes on our Blandford Forum operation and we wish him great success.

1. What do you like best about your job?
Stepping in as Manager of Tisbury came at a perfect time as it's proving a great way to learn and gain management experience before I go to Blandford. I love the fact I work both FOH (Front of House) and in the Kitchen as I get to rotate what I do. I love cooking and interacting with customers and building up customer relations. The best part of my job is providing excellent customer service and seeing happy customers - and working with such a great team of people.

2. What's your favourite edible or drinkable from our menu?
Elderflower soda is it's slightly different to the standard elderflower.

3. And how about your favourite book from our shelves?
Ah...  Reading's barely been on my agenda since leaving school so the bookshop side isn't really me.. However, I can point you to all the best cook books! [Honest confessions always best, Ed!]

4. Which of the ways we like to go about things at Beatons means most to you and why?
As previously mentioned, what I love best about my job has got to be gracious hospitality. I love 'trying' to keep everyone happy and treating all customers as the important people they are. It makes my job feel worthwhile and is very rewarding to see happy customers especially when they come back.

5. Over the next year what's the most exciting project in your life - at work or personally?
Over the next year my biggest challenge will be being Manager at Blandford and hopefully developing a good reputation and a group of loyal customers. I also recognise that potential new franchisees will look at Blandford as well as Tisbury to see what exactly is 'the Beatons' way and be a bit of an example... Personally, it would be great to be able to get my own place!

6. Can you share a  practical tip for our online audience? It can be about anything i.e. cooking, sewing, cleaning or motorbike maintenance!
I'm practical and love cooking so here's a cooking tip:  when making cakes never tap the spoon on the bowl as it knocks the air out so the sponge may sink or not be as light and fluffy as you want.

7. Lastly, what are you most looking forward to in terms of Beatons' events or future plans?
I am looking forward to the business growing and hopefully developing a well known name and - of course - getting up and running up at Blandford. I know Blandford well, and it's a great place for our next Beatons!
